Maiden tales, fine art photography by Catherine Rondeau
A Journey from Childhood to Womanhood
2 December 2018 – 10 March 2019
Mont-Saint-Hilaire Fine Art Museum
Step into a world of imagination! Photographer Catherine Rondeau manipulates her images in order to compose dreamlike tableaus that intertwine truth and falsehood. The adventure begins with two little girls playing with their fears and their desires. Then everything goes topsy-turvy when vulnerabilities and willpower collide during adolescence. Filled with poetic and expressive candour, the whimsical trompe l'œils are an invitation to dive into the disquieting strangeness that characterize the often confusing path to womanhood.
Catherine Rondeau holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University and a Master of Communication from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Her research into fairy tales and the vital role of the imaginary has led her to develop in her photography work an intimist narrative style that blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction. The artist lives and works in Montreal.

The opening reception will be held Sunday, December 2cd, at 2 PM, in the artist’s and her model's presence.
