Street museum: when art forges links
From June 8 to October 13, the Ma ville, Mon quartier, Ma rue event invites art lovers to take a stroll along Trois-Rivières' Rue Nérée-Beauchemin, transformed into a street museum for the summer season. Some 30 resident-owners have dedicated part of their property to displaying works by local and regional artists. Curated by Luc Archambault and in collaboration with the Festival international de la poésie, the works are presented with a poetic phrase.
Free are the butterflies
Originally founded to showcase sculpture, the annual event has for some years now also welcomed the work of 2D artists. For my second participation, I created Free are the butterflies, a large 8 x 12 foot photomontage, which adorns the side wall of École Marie-Leneuf, not far from Mathieu Isabelle's magnificent Baffin.
Inspired by the image, Moroccan poet and novelist Fatiha Morchid composed the following verse (my translation):
I open my hands
butterflies nestle
and in my pupil, the moon dances
